RATRI O JATRI

The chilling supernatural story revolves around Bipin Sarkar, a goldsmith, and a cursed road in Kapasdanga. Bipin was carrying an exceptionally valuable gold necklace in his leather bag, which he urgently needed to sell to a wealthy client in Kapasdanga. However, the route to the village was infamous and cursed. Legend had it that years ago, a brutal gang of dacoits used to hide in the dense jungle along the road, looting and murdering unsuspecting travelers. Although the entire gang was eventually killed in a police encounter, villagers believed their restless and bloodthirsty spirits still haunted the eerie forest. Fearing these malevolent entities, no experienced rickshaw puller dared to take that route after sunset.

However, driven by greed for extra money, a young rickshaw driver named Ganesh Dhali agreed to take Bipin Babu without informing the senior drivers. As dusk fell, the dark jungle of Kapasdanga took on a spine-chilling atmosphere. Deep into the journey, thick fog rolled in, wrapping the deserted path in eerie silence.

Suddenly, Ganesh noticed what appeared to be a human body lying on the road. Intrigued and alarmed, he stopped the rickshaw and stepped out to investigate. But as he approached, the mysterious figure supernatural drifted further away into the gloom. Unwittingly lured by the phantom, Ganesh lost his way in the dense fog, where a group of dark, demonic shadows emerged from the trees and ambushed him.

Meanwhile, Bipin Sarkar remained seated in the rickshaw, waiting anxiously. Moments later, someone boarded the rickshaw and began pedaling without saying a word. In the pitch darkness, Bipin assumed Ganesh had returned. But as they traveled further, a harsh, menacing voice echoed through the mist. The driver, without turning back, demanded the valuable gold necklace and revealed himself to be the spirit of the ancient dacoit leader!

Terrified, Bipin Babu looked closely at the driver, only to freeze in utter horror—the rickshaw was being pedaled by a hideous, fleshless skeleton, speeding directly toward the deep waters of a nearby river! Just as Bipin screamed in despair, the rickshaw veered off course and crashed violently into a massive banyan tree, coming to a halt seconds before disaster.

An elderly rickshaw puller rushed out of the darkness to rescue the battered goldsmith. The old man revealed that he had followed them out of concern, but Ganesh had already succumbed to the wrath of the dark spirits in the woods.

Though Bipin Babu survived the terrifying ordeal, the nightmare was far from over. As he limped back toward the village with the elderly driver, a dark, spectral shadow of the dacoit leader hovered behind the banyan tree. The spirit whispered a chilling warning through the cold wind—it would never abandon its lust for the gold necklace and would haunt Bipin Sarkar for the rest of his days.
