কলেজের ছুটিতে মোবাইলে একটি অদ্ভুত খবর পেয়ে চমকে ওঠে শহরের দুই বন্ধু। ‘গলাকাটা’ নামক এক প্রত্যন্ত গ্রামে নাকি রাতের অন্ধকারে মানুষ খুন হচ্ছে এবং পাওয়া যাচ্ছে মাথা কাটা লাশ! লোকমুখে কথা ছড়িয়েছে—কোনো এক ভয়াল মুণ্ডহীন প্রেতাত্মা বা দৈত্যের অভিশাপেই ঘটছে এসব। কৌতূহল সামলাতে না পেরে নিজেদের স্কুটি নিয়ে রহস্য উন্মোচনে সেই গ্রামে হাজির হয় তারা।
গ্রামে পৌঁছে তারা দেখে থমথমে পরিবেশ, সান্ধ্য চায়ের দোকান ছাড়া পুরো বাজার শুনশান। স্থানীয়রা বিপদের সতর্কবার্তা দিয়ে ফিরে যেতে বললেও তারা নাছোড়বান্দা হয়ে বাজারের এক পুরোনো অফিস ঘরে রাত কাটানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়।
গভীর রাতে জানালার বাইরে তাকাতেই চমকে ওঠে এক বন্ধু—বাইরে পার্ক করা স্কুটির ওপর কে যেন বসে আছে! পরীক্ষা করতে বাইরে এলে স্কুটি ফাঁকা দেখতে পেলেও, মাথার ওপরের বড় গাছটি থেকে ভেসে আসে হাড়হিম করা শব্দ। ওপরের দিকে তাকাতেই তাদের রক্ত জমে যায়—একটি ভয়ংকর মুণ্ডহীন দেহ গাছের ডাল থেকে গিরগিটির মতো উল্টো হয়ে নেমে আসছে তাদের দিকে!
প্রাণভয়ে দৌড়াতে শুরু করে দুই বন্ধু, আর পেছনে তাড়া করে সেই বিকট প্রেতাত্মা। অবশেষে অন্ধকারের বুক চিরে তারা এক পুরোনো মন্দিরে ঢুকে আশ্রয় নেয়। অলৌকিক কারণে মন্দিরের ভেতর ঢুকতে পারে না প্রেতাত্মাটি। সকালে মন্দিরের পুরোহিত এসে জানান, বহুবছর আগে এক নৃশংস হত্যাকাণ্ডের বলি হওয়া আত্মার অভিশাপেই এই গ্রাম ধ্বংস হচ্ছে। শিব মন্দিরে আশ্রয় পেয়েছিল বলেই সেদিন অলৌকিকভাবে প্রাণ বেঁচে যায় দুই বন্ধুর, যেখানে আজ পর্যন্ত কেউ বেঁচে ফিরতে পারেনি!
